Achieving balance through massage and yoga
It was through my practice as a yoga instructor that I discovered the importance of touch. I experienced the many positive changes a nurturing touch has on the body and mind. It was then that I decided to attend "The Asheville School of Massage and Yoga (2005).
While developing my massage practice and striving for longevity in my career, I discovered what self-care tools worked best for me, what tools would keep me working, doing the things I love and injury free. I found massage, yoga, and vacuum therapies to be the three most important tools for my personal self care.
In 2015, I began my studies in Oncology Massage with Tracy Walton. The 4 day intensive workshop then led me to her advanced mentorship program in Oncology. I also included in my studies, medicupping to include breast care. The inspiration to specialize in this field is fostered by personal experience and by the pioneers in this field. They educate and guide massage therapist to work safely, and effectively with those living with cancer and/or have a cancer history.
In addition to certified massage therapist and yoga instructor my background includes theater and visual arts. I attended The New York School of Interior design and The Fashion Institute of Technology (display and exhibit design) . My jobs included The Broadway Show Beauty and the Beast (hair and makeup), and the International Toy Fair in NYC. I also served in the art department on several films and commercials.
My goal is to bring together my passion for the visual and healing arts into the form of women's retreats in the Asheville N.C. area.
